Chance missed.

Chelsea have squandered an opportunity to finish top of their Champions League group by drawing 1-1 with Atlético Madrid.

After a lifeless first half, the second sprung to life with nearly triple the amount of chances between the two teams. Atlético broke the deadlock through a very nicely executed set piece. After several missed opportunities and some nice Jan Oblak saves, Eden Hazard finally forced an equalizer as his cross was turned in by an Atleti defender.

It was everything you’d expect from a match-up between these sides. A physical, tight affair that either team could’ve won. Until we meet again...

  • Chelsea will rue several missed chances, most notably from Christensen and Willian.
  • Atleti have been eliminated from the Champions League due to today’s results.
  • Michy almost nicked it in stoppage time with what would’ve been a spectacular goal.
  • Next Up: Chelsea travel to West Ham on Saturday.
