LITERALLY FIRST POINT OF THE SEASON
Serie A newcomers Benevento, in their first ever season in the top flight, set a record (in Europe’s top five leagues) by losing their first 14 games of the season. On Sunday, that streak ended with a 2-2 draw against AC Milan in a most spectacular fashion, with Juventus loanee Alberto Brignoli scoring the late-late equalizer in added-on time. Brignoli is the first goalkeeper to score in the Serie A since 2001, when Massimo Taibi did it the season after his failed spell at Manchester United.
Here’s Brignoli’s goal, celebrated as if they had just won the World Cup.
