1. EDEN HAZARD (7.1)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 85
Passes: 49/81
Shots: 2/3
Take-ons: 5/6
Not exactly a rating to be proud of in the absolute sense, but Hazard is back on top of the pile for the first time in four games.
It’s always tough to rate players in a scoreless draw or loss since player ratings tend to skew very hard towards goals and assists — not to mention Hazard’s own habit of drifting out of games — but this one is a fitting acknowledgement that Chelsea didn’t play that badly, we just struggled mightily right in front of goal...
2. CÉSAR AZPILICUETA (7.0)
Minutes 90
Touches: 86
Pases: 63/77
Nothing too remarkable on the stat-sheet from Captain Azpilicueta, but he’s always in the top three in our hearts. Partial credit for the clean sheet, which is never not welcome.
3. N’GOLO KANTÉ (6.9)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 94
Passes: 72/80
Shots: 0/3
Tackles: 5
Same goes for Kanté as for Azpilicueta: steady excellence that isn’t always recognized fully or properly (though Kanté’s been making up for that latter over the best few months with award after award).
STARTERS: Courtois (6.6), Rüdiger (6.8), Christensen (6.7), Azpilicueta (7.0), Alonso (6.4), Bakayoko (6.3), Kanté (6.9), Moses (6.3), Pedro (5.4), Hazard (7.1), Willian (5.4)
SUBSTITUTES: Fàbregas (6.0), Batshuayi (5.0), Zappacosta (3.9)
