Everton 0-0 Chelsea, Premier League: Post-match reaction

One of those days. Chelsea’s 5000th match in the club’s history ends in 0-0 at Goodison. Ugh.

Chelsea created plenty of chances and half-chances, but it was just not meant to be. Everton packed the box and especially after the first 20 minutes, were fairly comfortable. Chelsea couldn’t quite keep up the initial tempo which probably would’ve eventually resulted in a goal.

Still, Everton needed three goal-line clearances and one crossbar to survive by the skin of their teeth. Out-tack-ticking Big Sam will no doubt gleefully chomp on his gum and pick his ear wax out with his headset. They almost stole it at the end, even, but managed to get no shots on target.

Frustrating start to the weekend.

  • Chelsea fail to take advantage of both Liverpool and Arsenal dropping points yesterday, and remain just 3 and 4 points ahead, respectively.
  • Conte’s lineup and substitutions exactly the same as against Southampton, except with Batshuayi coming on instead of Morata. Not quite same result unfortunately.
  • Next up: Brighton at home on Tuesday
  • Carefree.
