The final four of this year’s League Cup is set, with the expected candidates Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United all advancing from the quarterfinals to set an impressive and strong semifinal field.
What’s that? Manchester United lost?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA
How’s Jose going to win his treble this year then?
But I digress.
Following that wonderful win for the team formerly known as Tammy Abraham’s Bristol City, the draw for the semifinal was conducted. While Chelsea unfortunately did not get the Robins, we at least avoided unbeatable Manchester City.
The semifinal draw in full:
CHELSEA vs. Arsenal
Manchester City vs. Bristol City
The only drawback for making it this far is that for some reason, the League Cup semifinals remain two-legged affairs despite the rest of the competition conducted as single-elimination (without replays, even!). So this adds two more games to the calendar, one in mid January (9th or 10th) and one at the end of the month (23rd or 24th).
But Arsenal are certainly beatable opposition, so we should be expecting advancement to the final and a chance for a knockout competition trophy for Antonio Conte. Forza!
P.S.: This mean we play Arsenal three times in the month of January. That’s pretty rare.
