In this series, I will use FIFA 18 to simulate as well as play the next Chelsea FC match — with the difficulty on the highest level, because much like Chelsea FC, I occasionally like to make things difficult on myself for no reason whatsoever.
The Premier League is back after a midweek debacle against Roma, so let’s see what FIFA 18 thinks will happen when Chelsea take on Manchester United.
My shot at glory (with commentary):
This time around, I laced up my FIFA cleats to face off against Colin Damms of the Busby Babe, SB Nation’s Manchester United website. Everything was on the line as we each played our hearts out, and talked about Chelsea vs. Manchester United.
For the third straight game, I took the risk that Antonio Conte would play N’Golo Kante. More so out of pure hope than actual expectations.
The game itself didn’t go that well, although it was an entertaining match. Colin and I talked about rooting for Mourinho, United without Pogba, and much more. Check it out below.
Computer Simulation:
As usual, I also ran a computer simulation, with the following lineup:
Courtois | Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta | Alonso, Fabregas, Bakayoko, Zappacosta | Hazard, Morata, Pedro
The simulation had the game finishing 1-1, with some pretty enticing moments from both sides. And that’s a draw without Kanté, so with him, we’re guaranteed to win, right?
