Chelsea may not have earned all three points on Saturday, but a point at Anfield is nothing to sneeze at, especially considering that Liverpool had yet to lose a game at home all season. The point also keeps Chelsea firmly in the top-four, and while we did lose ground on the two Manchester teams ahead of us (now 3 and 11 points behind United and City, respectively), the primary objective for the season should be to finish ahead of at least two of Spurs, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
“We’re not completely satisfied because we came here to try and get the three points, but we respect the fact we were playing against a good team.”
“In the last couple of months, the results on the whole have been great for us. We have nothing but respect for Liverpool because they are a very good team, but we’re disappointed not to take the three points because the path we are on at the minute is the right one, so we had a go, especially late on in the game when we were pushing them.”
“We’ve got lots of games coming up now and this is clearly a difficult place to come, so we take the point and we’ll keep going.”
Captain Cahill’s thoughts were mirrored by not only N’Golo Kanté — “I think it’s a good point; it was a difficult game against a tough team,” said the midfielder — but the head coach as well, who paid tribute to the team’s desire, character, and will after a grueling week of travel in his post-match comments.
Cahill thinks all this means that the team is on the right track.
“From our point of view [the Salah goal] was disappointing, because I thought we defended quite solidly generally, and maybe a bit fortunate for them, but you could say the same about ours. I don’t know if it was a cross or a chip – I’m sure Willian will say it was a chip!
“But we’re showing the right characteristics – the ones we had last season. I never thought we were out of that game and we’ve had some decent results in the last couple of months. We’ve got lots of games coming up now and this is clearly a difficult place to come, so we take the point and we’ll keep going.”

Next up are Swansea on Wednesday, then Newcastle on Saturday, who have a combined 2 wins in the last eight weeks in the league. If Chelsea continue with these right “characteristics,” surely six points should be ours.
“Next we have Swansea at home on Wednesday and we have to get back in the winning way.”
