Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea, Premier League: Post-match reaction

The Premier League’s leading goalscorer scored yet another goal today, and Chelsea were unable to make multiple good chances (and half-chances) count, and so the Blues lose to the Reds but remain third in the league, so it’s not all bad.

BUT THEN WILLIAN!!! Good thing Mignolet’s short!

AHAHAHA

Chelsea certainly played well enough for good portions of the game, but were sloppy at key moments — tiredness creeping in? — including on the Liverpool goal. Perhaps it was fitting that Willian’s equalizer was also a bit funny/lucky/fantastic.

  • 11 shots, but only 3 on target.
  • 3 goals (+2 assists of sort) for Willian in the space of 4 days.
  • Fabregas, Pedro, Willian the three subs. That’s the sort of quality rotation/depth we need.
  • Chelsea remain third but now 3 points behind Manchester United and possibly 11 behind Manchester City by the end of the weekend. City are away to Huddersfield tomorrow.
  • Next up: Swansea City at home on Wednesday
