1. WILLIAN (9.0)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 55
Passes: 25**/34
Shots: 2**/5
Take-ons: 2/3
Fouls drawn: 2
With this appearance, Willian became the 90th player in Chelsea history with 200 appearances, joining current active members Eden Hazard, Gary Cahill, and César Azpilicueta in that club. Together, those four have been through just about anything and everything since 2013, with Willian famously vanquishing many a challenger on the right wing. But last season that changed a bit, with Pedro emerging as Conte’s preferred choice. That paradigm has largely continued, though Pedro himself has found the bench more often than not, with the preferred formation shifting from from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2.
All that could signal a slow end to Willian’s illustrious career in the SW6, but for now, he remains one of the first 12-13 players Conte’s counting on — 2g (+ 2a, sort of) speaks to that crucial quality off the bench and in rotation. While Willian has only started 4 of the last 12 games, he’s only failed to make an appearance in one game this season.
2. EDEN HAZARD (8.4)
Minutes: 63
Touches: 33
Passes: 16*/20
Shots: 3*/3
Take-ons: 1/2
It’s Thanksgiving in the United States, so if you sat down for dinner tonight and named the Belgian wizard as one of the things you’re thankful for, welcome to the club. We’ll need him to continue his excellent form on Saturday as well, to have a chance at Anfield.
3. CESC FÀBREGAS (8.1)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 113
Passes: 80/97
Shots: 3*/3
Blocks+INTs: 4
Besides Willian, the only other player to make an appearance in almost every single game is Fàbregas, who much like the double-centurion, has only missed one contest. The major difference is that Fàbregas has started all but two of those games, having firmly entrenched himself as a starter in stark contrast with this time last season. Whether in a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2 he’s been one of the first names of the teamsheet, and there’s little reason to think that’s going to change with emphasis trending towards the latter setup.
STARTERS: Courtois (7.0), Rüdiger (7.2), David Luiz (7.0), Azpilicueta (7.6), Alonso (6.8), Kanté (7.5), Fàbregas (8.1), Zappacosta (6.5), Pedro (7.1), Hazard (8.4), Willian (9.0)
SUBSTITUTES: Cahill (6.7), Morata (6.0), Drinkwater (6.5)
