Eden Hazard has no desire to leave Chelsea despite ‘admiration’ for Real Madrid

Never leave us, Eden!

Eden Hazard continued his excellent form on Wednesday night as Chelsea beat Qarabag 4-0 in Baku, Azerbaijan to qualify for the knockout round of the Champions League, collecting a goal and an assist while starting as the nominal center forward with Morata rested and Batshuayi injured. In fact, Hazard now has 9 goals in his last 10 games for club and country combined, and with his converted penalty to open the scoring last night became the all-time leader in Champions League goals among Belgians (with 8).

Another, far less pleasant thing that’s continued have been the transfer rumors linking him with Real Madrid, which are something we should be well used to by now. Fortunately, it’s also continued Hazard’s consistent denials about wanting to leave Chelsea.

"I am always very fine at this club. I still have two years of contract [left]. When I feel the desire to leave, I'll leave. But, for now, I'm a Blue.

"We know the admiration that I have for Real, but I'm at Chelsea. Every year, things were said about me but I stayed.

"In Lille, I was announced in Paris, but I stayed. And in Chelsea, people always said that I'm leaving, but I'm still here."

Other than dropping the “for now” in there, this is about as good of a response as Hazard even produced to these questions and rumors. Perhaps we should thus reward him with a new contract, as it’s been mooted since the summer?

Don’t ever leave us, Eden!
