AS Roma 3-0 Chelsea, Champions League: Post-match reaction

Chelsea somehow managed to contrive to miss all their chances today, ranging from decent to good to at least one sitter; unfortunately, Roma were guilty of no such wastefulness. Quite the opposite in fact, starting from minute one and then adding to it thanks to sloppy Chelsea plays, giveaways, mistakes.

Chelsea had the better of play for most of the game, certainly the first half, but eventually fell apart in the second half to allow Roma to seal the deal.

Here comes the CRISIS narrative once again! Duck and cover!

Win or lose, up the Blues.

  • Chelsea drop to second in the group, one point behind Roma. Atleti only managed a draw today, so a Chelsea win away at Qarabag next time will be enough to qualify for the knockout round.
  • Not sure which was worse, the commentary or the poor audio mix on FOX Soccer Match Pass.
  • Hazard injury/knock a big game-changer. Not even getting the free-kick out of it added insult to the literal injury.
  • Switching Rudiger and Cahill seemed like a weird choice. Back three all over the place for much of the game.
  • Next up: Manchester United on Sunday. Must win.
