Eduardo makes the greatest save of his Chelsea career in this week’s Chelsea Unseen

Behind the scenes at Chelsea training this week

Since signing for Chelsea in the summer of 2016, veteran goalkeeper (and Euro 2016-winner) Eduardo has made exactly one competitive appearance for the club, and even that was in the Premier League 2, which is what the U23/reserves league is called nowadays. So not really a competitive appearance at all (though it was the one where Terry, Fàbregas, and Batshuayi played, too). He’s also made the bench a grand total of seven times, mostly in cups, but also twice in the league last season.

Of course, that’s precisely the role for which Eduardo signed up, carrying on the fine tradition of veteran third goalkeepers at the club, like Hilário (who’s a coach nowadays) and Amelia and Hedman and others I’m probably forgetting at the moment. And by all indications, Eduardo has carried out this role with aplomb, being a perfect foil for Courtois & Co in training as well as the rest of the first-team when needed.

It is precisely in such a situation that he’s pulled off probably the greatest save of his Chelsea career, which you can admire at the 1:30 mark of the latest Chelsea:Unseen video, or in the tweet below.

The rest of this week’s Chelsea:Unseen is the usual crop of training fun, including some silky skill from the Ladies as they prepared for their famous loss that was really a win in Munich on Wednesday.
