December was another perfect month for Chelsea as the Blues took all 18 available points in the league. If not for a congested holiday fixture list and running into a determined Spurs side to begin January, the six-win month could’ve propelled the club to Premier League history for most consecutive victories.
As one would expect after such a great month, Chelsea have once again been honored with several nominations for the league’s monthly awards. After sweeping the three major awards for November, three more of the club’s standouts have been given a chance to win for December. Unfortunately, none of our goals were nominated for Goal of the Month this time around.
Antonio Conte has been nominated for Manager of the Month again after claiming the award in each of the previous two months. This should come as no surprise considering the club’s immaculate form. His three competitors in the category are Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, and Jurgen Klopp. (Vote Here)
Two Blues are up for the league’s Player of the Month award. Diego Costa, who is looking to win for the second consecutive month, made the eight-player nominee list. He is joined by Gary Cahill, the only defender to be nominated this month. The star-studded list for this award also includes Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexis Sanchez, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, and Adam Lallana. Cesar Azpilicueta, who was nominated for the PFA Fans’ Award for the month did not make this shortlist, for some reason. (Vote Here)
Can Chelsea once again bring home some hardware for their brilliant performances in the month of December? The competition is admittedly much tougher than last month, but there’s always a chance.
