TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY

Welcome one, welcome all, welcome, welcome to Transfer Deadline Day.  It's going to be a busy one, if for nothing else than Chelsea (and most of the rest of the league) having to play a round of games, too.  Who made this schedule anyway?

It's been a relatively quiet window for most of the top teams in the league after the arms race of the summer, but that doesn't mean we couldn't have some m-m-m-m-m-madness going on with, say, Chelsea plunking down £40m for Celtic's Moussa Dembélé.  We'll also be keeping an eye on backup goalkeeper rumors (Craig Gordon, also of Celtic an option as well as maybe Salvatore Sirigu?) — Asmir Begović is okay staying, but would really like to start playing as soon as possible once again.

It may not feel like it, but it's actually been a fairly busy window for Chelsea, as it tends to be the case when we have to manage roughly two teams worth of loanees.

Here are all the Chelsea deals done this January transfer window:

  • Nathan Aké — loan recall from AFC Bournemouth
  • Kenedy — return from loan at Watford, probably staying with Chelsea rest of season

  • Mitchell Beeney — return from loan at Crawley Town, future unclear
  • Alex Davey — return from loan at Crawley Town, future unclear
