Chelsea are into the fifth round of the FA Cup as usual — the blip against Bradford City two years ago was the Blues’ first loss in a round earlier than the fifth in almost two decades — but after two easy home ties in the third (Peterborough United) and fourth rounds (Brentford), the difficulty ramps up a bit with an away day at Wolves, currently 18th in the Championship and vanquishers of Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.
Wolves were once a first division powerhouse but have been largely second tier for the last 30-odd years. They were last in the Premier League in 2012 and are currently managed by Paul Lambert. Former Chelsea youngster George Saville plays in midfield for them.
Chelsea last played Wolves in September 2012, winning 6-0 at home in the League Cup.
The FA Cup fifth round draw in full:
Burnley vs. Lincoln City
Fulham vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Blackburn vs. Manchester United
Sutton United vs. Arsenal
Middlesbrough vs. Oxford United
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Chelsea
Huddersfield Town vs. Manchester City
Millwall vs. Derby County OR Leicester City
The fifth round ties are set to be played the weekend of February 18th, which was a free weekend for Chelsea, with broadcast selections set to be announced soon.
