Baba Rahman and Ghana manager Avram Grant were trying to put a positive spin on things yesterday, but Baba did say he twisted his knee twice in quick succession in yesterday’s 1-0 win over Uganda so it’s ultimately not surprising that his time at the Africa Cup of Nations has come to a premature end.
Schalke 04, where Baba’s currently playing on loan from Chelsea, have confirmed this morning that the left back had returned to the club with what’s been initially diagnosed as a bruised meniscus.

Baba will now undergo further scans to determine the full extent of the injury. If it’s indeed just a bruise, hopefully his time on the sidelines will be brief.
Elsewhere at the ACN today, Burkina Faso drew 1-1 with Gabon. Bertrand Traoré played the final 35 minutes in another mixed performance. He did have one good chance shortly after coming on, but his deflected shot was saved well.
