The obvious star of the day, Marco Alonso put together the best performance of his short Chelsea career and came within a whisper of grabbing an historic hat-trick.

As it stands, he's still only the third defender ever to score twice in a Premier League mach for Chelsea.

Perfect timing, too, not just for Chelsea as a team, but for Alonso himself with the versatile Aké coming back from his loan to provide some proper competition at left wing-back.  Alonso had been the only first-team regular without a top three appearance in these community player ratings.

Pedro's excellent season and great form continues with a third 8+ rating in four games, which have also seen him score four goals.

His goal in this one was a bit of a novelty item (a header!) but the touch that preceded it was certainly worth a few ratings points on its own.

Pedro, Hazard, and Willian were all tasked with making up for Costa's absence and while they all shared in this responsibility, Pedro did it better than the other two.

3. THIBAUT COURTOIS 7.7

Courtois was the best of the rest after the top two standouts, keeping a clean sheet for the first time in three games.

Welcome back, clean sheets!

Courtois did seem to have a few issues early (not communicating properly with defense? not dominating his area as expected?), but settled in and made a couple crucial saves on shots and crosses.
