Antonio Conte continued the blazing start to his Premier League career, completing his first half-season in charge of Chelsea with a 13th win on the bounce. It is Chelsea’s second best ever first-half to a Premier League campaign, just off the pace of 2005-06 when Mourinho’s side won 17 of 19, losing just once, on their way to a second successive title.

The 13 wins in a row match the single-season Premier League record that Arsenal set back in 2001-02, and the 10 wins in a row in all competitions are a new Chelsea club record.

"The first part of the season was incredible for us but it will be very difficult to repeat this run. The second part of the season will be very difficult for us."

"We started the season as underdogs and now we have the light on us, we must know this and work more to find the right solution to try to win in every game. Today we are very happy."

Almost as traditional as the comments about work, work, work, work, and more hard work have become, so have the post-match hugs and general enthusiasm from the boss to his players.

Adding to today’s sense of occasion was the fact it was the final day of 2016. So as the calendar gets flipped over to 2017 and we enter the second half of the season, here’s the boss to wish us all a happy and satisfying new year.
