Chelsea Academy youngster and former youth captain, 20-year-old Jordan Houghton has joined League Two side Doncaster Rovers on loan. Houghton had earlier joined the Chelsea first-team in training camp in Austria, but did not travel with the team to the USA.

The half-season loan, which currently runs until January 3rd, will be the third of Houghton's career. The midfielder spent the previous season on loan at Gillingham and Plymouth Argyle, amassing 1656 minutes of playing time in the process.
Houghton seemed to hit the ground running with League One team Gillingham at the beginning of last season but eventually fell out of favour and returned to Chelsea in January, only to head out on loan again but to a League Two with promotion contenders, Plymouth Argyle, in March. At Plymouth, Houghton also started well and earned praise from his manager, but ended up missing their (ultimately fruitless) promotion play-off expedition due to injury.

Doncaster Rovers, who were relegated from League One last season, will no doubt be looking to win promotion right back.
Good luck to Jordan and the Rovers.
