Everyone's fully focused on the final hours of the summer transfer window, except those of course whose futures are not in doubt. Thankfully, Diego Costa is one of those players, despite many months of rumors and wooing from the Spanish capital regarding a potential return to Atlético Madrid.
While things escalated all the way to the point where Chelsea had to issue a public hands-off statement and threaten legal action should Atléti continue their public courtship, there was obviously something going on in the background that got Atléti buzzing so.
"I wished I could go back to Atletico, I'm not going to lie. Everyone knows what happened to me there [England], with the language, the weather and everything. But I can't complain because I'm a boy whom the fans love, at Chelsea they respect me."
"I had the chance to go back but I couldn't, because of a few details. I'm grateful to the people at Atletico, to Cholo [Simeone] especially, who has always put his confidence in me."
Diego Costa may be public enemy number one in the media, but he's loved in at least two places, on the terraces of the Vicente Calderón and at Stamford Bridge. For now, he graces the latter, and with full commitment.
"Now I am at Chelsea, I'm doing well, the league has started and I'm focused on that. Things are how they are. I hope that Atletico do very well, like last season but this time win titles. I want the best for them, I always feel for them, but I have to do my work at Chelsea."

Costa's off to a good start with Chelsea this season and he's back with the Spanish national team as well after missing the Euros due to injury. He may not stay forever with Chelsea — he probably won't stay too long before returning to Atléti — but for now, he's ours and we'll follow him into battle.
