Thanks to Chelsea's lack of European action this year, we have the "privilege" of entering the League Cup (this season called the EFL Cup thanks to the rebranding of all things Football League) one round earlier than normal.
With only twelve other Premier League sides in the 50-strong draw, we were always likely to be drawn against "weaker" opposition — and so it happened that after some extra-confusion due to draw technicalities, Chelsea had been matched with League One Bristol Rovers, and at Stamford Bridge even. A glamour Tuesday night tie and a good pay-day for the visitors then, plus the opportunity of a famous giant killing (though based on the lack of TV coverage in the UK, perhaps not too much of an opportunity?).
Squeezing this game into the schedule could be a great opportunity for rotation, giving those warming the bench over the first two games an early opportunity to impress. I have removed both Matt Miazga and Juan Cuadrado from the list — they may not be officially out on loan just yet, but it's surely only a matter of time as they seem to be playing no part of the first-team squad. Keep in mind that Chelsea U23 play today (Monday), so the likes of Colkett, J.Dasilva, D.Sterling, etc will most likely be playing in that one.
We'll see what Conte will choose; how would you choose?
