According to the Birmingham Mail, legendary Chelsea player and manager Roberto Di Matteo is looking to add Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford to his Aston Villa squad, probably on a temporary basis (i.e. a loan). Champions League-winner Di Matteo joined the recently relegated Villans in the Championship, and wants to get two strikers in the market for the season ahead.

Coming from a highly successful spell at Middlesbrough in 2014-15, during which he won the Championship Player of the Year award, Bamford spent the first half of last season at Crystal Palace. The season-long loan was cut short by the player, as he barely saw the pitch during his five-month stay at Selhurst Park.

In the winter transfer window, he joined Norwich City on a loan deal until the end of the season, but his fortunes didn't improve much. He ended the season with 13 Premier League appearances and no goals scored in 353 minutes.

Other clubs are reportedly interested in Bamford, despite his poor season, but the Villa staff in particular seem to have faith that the 22-year-old English striker will be able to repeat his performances from his previous spells at England's lower leagues.

Bamford seemed ready for the big time 12 months ago.  Now he looks to get his career back on track.  It looks like his body's ready.
