If you thought we were joking the last time we checked in with Chelsea's all-time leading goalscorer, Frank Lampard, it's now even more true than ever before: Frank Lampard simply cannot stop scoring since turning 38. So sorry, other MLS teams.
On Saturday, just as Chelsea were entertaining Real Madrid at The Big House, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard was hard at work in Yankee Stadium, leading NYCFC to an impressive 5-1 victory over one of the best teams in the league, the Colorado Rapids. Three of the five goals were scored by Lampard, the first hat-trick in the admittedly short history of New York City FC.
That's eight goals in eight games for Super Frank as NYCFC solidified their grip on the top spot in the Eastern Conference of MLS. Thanks in part to Lampard's exploits, NYCFC lead the league in goals scored with 40 — but bizarrely, they also lead the league in goals conceded, also with 40.
