A rather poor first half from Chelsea, certainly on the scoresheet (3-0 to the other guys), though Chelsea looked the better side early on. Pressing, quick passing, intensity — all of Conte's tenets were being implemented with some enthusiasm.
But then a deflected shot from Marcelo changed the mood and flipped the script. Chelsea have been sub-par, Real Madrid have not, especially that man, Marcelo, who grabbed a second himself before setting up a long-range third from young Mariano Díaz. Questions about Begovic on all three goals, especially the latter two.
Plenty of other questions, too, with anonymous performances from the likes of Loftus-Cheek, Matic, Pedro, Willian. Traoré's working hard, but without much effect. Oscar looked good early, but has faded. The defense looked terrible on the second goal (especially Cahill), and the marking has been sub-standard in general. Big mistake from Ola Aina, too, though hopefully it'll be looked at as a learning experience rather than a death sentence.
So, plenty of room for improvement. Certainly no point in watching the scoreboard too closely, but a better performance on the pitch is a must.
