After reports of delayed talks between Chelsea and Real Betis earlier this month, a one-year loan extension for Belgian starlet Charly Musonda at the La Liga side has been officially agreed. The announcement was made today by both clubs on their official websites.
Musonda arrived at Chelsea in 2012 from Belgian club Anderlecht along with his brothers Tika and Lamisha, both of whom have already left the club. Following scintillating performances and trophies accumulated at the youth level, he took the next step by going on loan to Betis in the winter transfer window last season. The young attacking midfielder took the Spanish pitches by storm with blistering pace and quick feet, featuring as a winger on both flanks for the Verdiblancos and recording 16 appearances - 13 of which as a starter - and 1 goal.
In an interview to Spanish newspaper AS in April, Musonda expressed his desire to return to Betis; a sentiment shared by the club. Now that the deal is official, here's hoping that he can keep on making large strides towards a first team spot next year under Gus Poyet's guidance.
