Antonio Conte, set to begin club duty on July 11, has his group of people he likes to work with, many of whom will follow him from their jobs with the Italian national team once Euro 2016 is over. Jose Mourinho's close-knit staff follow him just about anywhere he goes, be that heaven on Blue earth or the ends of Red hell. Carlo Ancelotti doesn't have a huge entourage, but he will be reunited with a key man at Bayern Munich once he starts work.
Gerland has been an assistant or the Reserves coach for the past decade and a half, so he's a bit of an institution.
Clement and Ancelotti have worked together at Chelsea, PSG, and Real Madrid before, winning plenty of titles in all three countries (and a Champions League title, too!). Clement, a former youth coach at Chelsea before being named to Hiddink's staff in 2009, struck out on his own last season but his first try at management ended in a surprise sacking from Derby County who were fifth in the Championship at the time. And that's exactly where they finished, too, before losing in the promotion playoffs.
In any case, good luck to the dynamic duo in Germany. May our paths cross soon in the Champions League.
