If there was any doubt remaining over just how good and just how important Andreas Christensen had been to Borussia's season, they named the young Chelsea loanee their Player of the Season on Monday. It was a landslide win for the center back, who collected over 50% of the votes (next highest was Granit Xhaka at 15%).

Congratulations, Andreas!
The 20-year-old, who was still just a teenager for most of the season, made 39 appearances in all competitions for Gladbach. Outside of a few weeks at the start of the season under previous manager Luicen Favre, he was an integral part of the Bundesliga side's defense in either a three-man or a standard four-man setup. In recent months he's taken a similar role in the Danish national team. Not too bad for someone not even of legal drinking age in the USA!
There was some indecision earlier over Christensen's planned second year on loan at the club, but that looks to have resolved itself in a sensible way and he will continue with Gladbach. While they will no doubt look to acquire him over the course of next season, Chelsea should do everything in our power to keep a hold of the kid and integrate him into our first-team instead next summer.
