Marco Amelia holding talks with Chelsea

Marco Amelia's quest to become the new Henrique Hilario is facing a bit of a hurdle this summer thanks to an expiring contract.  But fear not, fans of the world's handsomest third goalkeeper, there are talks!  Talks!

"Continue with Chelsea? I'm talking to the club, I'm happy for the experience here in London."

Whether Amelia would stay in a playing or a coaching role — or a combination of the two — remains to be seen.  Chances are it would be the latter, given the fact that he was already retired once before Chelsea plucked him up as emergency cover in the fall.  He was never actually called into match action, but did sit on the bench several times, and could just as easily continue in that role next season.  He seems happy, and, if there are indeed talks, we're probably happy enough with his contributions and veteran presence or whatever else he may bring to the table.  Plus, he's Italian, which could play well with the regime change at the managerial post.
