Since his transfer to Chelsea in January, young center back Matt Miazga has accumulated more minutes for the USA U23 national team than for Chelsea, but that hasn't prevented him from getting Jürgen Klinsmann's call to the USMNT for the preliminary Copa América Centenario squad.

The 20-year-old is one of five Premier League players included, alongside veteran goalkeepers Brad Guzan and Tim Howard, and defender Geoff Cameron and DeAndre Yedlin.  Other headliners in the 40-man squad are 17-year-old Christian Pulisic of Borussia Dortmund and 21-year-old homegrown Seattle product Jordan Morris who was named the best player in the NCAA last season (which is basically equivalent to the U21/U19 levels in Europe in terms of its place in the player development process).

Miazga made his full USA debut last fall and he will be looking to add to that solitary appearance against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines by earning his ticket to the final 23-man squad for the Copa.  Klinsmann has to make his final cuts by May 20th.

The full 40-man squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: David Bingham (San Jose), Brad Guzan (Aston Villa, England), Tim Howard (Everton, England), Ethan Horvath (Molde, Norway), Nick Rimando (Salt Lake)

Defenders: Kellyn Acosta (Dallas), Ventura Alvarado (Club America, Mexico), Matt Besler (Kansas City), Steve Birnbaum (D.C.), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin, Germany), Geoff Cameron (Stoke, England), Edgar Castillo (Monterrey, Mexico), Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt, Germany), Brad Evans (Seattle), Omar Gonzalez (Pachuca, Mexico), Eric Lichaj (Nottingham Forest, England), Matt Miazga (Chelsea, England), Michael Orozco (Tijuana, Mexico), Tim Ream (Fulham, England), DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland, England)

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes, France), Michael Bradley (Toronto), Mix Diskerud (New York City), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Moenchengladbach, Germany), Jermaine Jones (Colorado), Perry Kitchen (Heart of Midlothian, Scotland), Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt, Germany), Darlington Nagbe (Portland), Lee Nguyen (New England), Danny Williams (Reading, England), Graham Zusi (Kansas City)

Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Toronto), Clint Dempsey (Seattle), Ethan Finlay (Columbus), Jordan Morris (Seattle), Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose), Bobby Wood (Union Berlin, Germany), Gyasi Zardes (Los Angeles)
