Chelsea loanee saves Werder Bremen from relegation

The famed Chelsea Loan Army has members all over Europe. One such player has scored a huge goal for his temporary club. Defender Papy Djilobodji's 88th minute goal has saved Werder Bremen from relegation.

Had Bremen not won their final match of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt, they likely would've been forced to play in the promotion/relegation playoff against a 2. Bundesliga side.

Instead, this goal by the Chelsea loanee has given the club another season in the German top flight.

Djilobodji joined Chelsea in September from Ligue 1 side Nantes. After just one League Cup appearance in five months, he was loaned out to Bremen where he has been an important part of their fight to stay in the Bundesliga.

Some like to criticize Chelsea's transfer policy of buying players in excess and loaning them out. This is one piece of evidence that shows that these players are getting valuable experience while on loan. Surviving a relegation fight and scoring a huge goal could help Djilobodji and Chelsea in the future.
