Asmir Begovic also wants to beat Tottenham

Asmir Begovic has been at Chelsea for less than a year, but he's well aware of the importance Chelsea fans are placing on next Monday's game against Spurs.  A traditional rivalry, with the added possibility of delivering the death blow to Spurs' title hopes -- unless Leicester City beat Manchester United the day before with which they'd clinch the ultimate prize -- may be scant consolation for Chelsea's terrible season, but it's consolation nonetheless.

"I know the fans are desperate to beat Tottenham and it's a huge game no matter what the circumstances are. We're in a position where we can have an impact and we need to put in another good performance next Monday, and this win helped for confidence reasons."

"We'll give it our best and if we carry on from today we can get a good result. It's an occasion to look forward to. It's difficult to get over the line when you're doing it for the first time and hopefully we can give them a big test next Monday."

Thanks to Courtois's suspension, Begovic is set to start consecutive games for the first time since the last time we faced Spurs, back in the fall.  We're all expecting something slightly better than the drab 0-0 draw that day at White Hart Lane.  To do that, we'll need Eden Hazard to play at least as well as he did against Bournemouth.

"I watched him last year and he's been frustrated with his season and injuries, but he looked really fresh and he was excited for the game. He brings game-winning skills and when he shows off his skill it's a beautiful thing."

"He takes on players, makes situations and chances for other players and obviously puts them away himself. He attracts so many of the other team's defensive players, which frees up other guys to do their thing. When he's on top of his game he's a huge asset to us."

Eden Hazard scored arguably his most amazing goal in Chelsea colors against Begovic when our backup goalkeeper was first-choice at Stoke City in 2013.  Where has this Hazard gone, one might be wondering?

We could do with an effort like that against Spurs on Monday!
