Striker wants to stay at Chelsea, if Chelsea want him to stay

Alexandre Pato made his first start for Chelsea on Saturday, and while he wasn't quite as successful as the previous weekend in his extended substitute appearance against Aston Villa, he remains hopeful of securing a move back to Europe when his loan deal at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season.  His preference would be Chelsea, according to one of his agents, or the Premier League if that doesn't work out.

"He wanted to come to Chelsea, that was his first choice. He loves the Premier League and wants to stay here if Chelsea want to keep him."

"He'll speak with the club at the end of the season - there is a new manager coming in and we will have to have a conversation [about a permanent transfer]. I think a lot of things will change between now and the end of the season. He was very successful in his first Premier League match and he needs to continue to impress."

On another day, perhaps Pato manages to convert his glorious chance on the stroke of half-time against Swansea City, or he produces a better finish on Oscar's great cross earlier in the first half, and we have this conversation in more positive tones about the 26-year-old.  While his second appearance didn't quite live up to the instant hype of the first one, a cut rate deal to acquire him permanently probably shouldn't be ruled out at this point.
