Diego Costa gets extra one-match ban over Everton incident

Diego Costa has been punished for the incident which saw him sent off at Goodison Park last month. But rather than the lengthy ban many were braying for after he snuggled up to Gareth Barry's neck, the striker is getting away with what some might call a slap on the wrist*: He'll be banned for one match and fined £20,000. He'll be serving that ban next weekend when Chelsea travel to play Swansea City, and will now only return for the home match against Manchester City in two weeks.

*I would not call a £20,000 fine a slap on the wrist. If you feel otherwise, let me know and we can discuss a gold-level subscription to my writing endeavours.

According to Guus Hiddink, Costa's now fully fit after battling through a nagging injury, and would be playing if not for the suspension. Considering he got the international break off as well, he's now on three full weeks of rest, and should be raring to go for the last six games of the season. No more suspensions please.
