Alongside a new manager, Chelsea seem to be ready to import at least one midfielder from Italy as well. We've heard rumors of Pogba and Nainggolan before, but it's Miralem Pjanic's name that has popped up with greater regularity over the past few days. The AS Roma star seems happy enough playing for Spalletti, but with the Premier League's big moneys winking at him, he could perhaps be tempted. Chelsea do seem to be at the front of the queue should he decide to leave, with others like Manchester United waiting in the wings.
Late last week, Pjanic himself added to the growing rumors, supposedly clicking the little heart on on tweet that said he was "perfect" for Chelsea. This of course probably means very little, even if he did in fact like the tweet and the story in it. But combined with the other stories, perhaps we shouldn't completely ignore it.
Pjanic interested in a Chelsea move? Certainly wouldn't mind seeing him in a blue shirt! pic.twitter.com/Gf4YYMrtul— TweetChelseaFC (@TweetChelseaFC) March 5, 2016
After the rumors of interest and intentions, Sunday's Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Chelsea have indeed made contact, albeit just an inquiry for the 25-year-old. His price is likely to be the full buyout clause of €31m, though in today's transfer environment, that may not be much at all for one of the best players at his position in the Serie A.
