Southampton 1-2 Chelsea, Premier League: Post-match reaction

WINNER WINNER COMEBACK DINNER

More of the same in the second half as in the first, with Chelsea huffing and puffing plenty, but without that final, telling quality that would've been needed to break down a solid Southampton side.  But while Shane Long created his own luck to score in the first half, Chelsea received a bit of cosmic luck on the equalizer.  They all count the same!  And then suddenly we were awesome and grabbed the winner through Ivanovic.

OH MY OH MY.

  • This was well on track to be one of the easiest clean sheets of Fraser Forster's career, but it all changed with one innocuous play that somehow resulted in a goal, after which Chelsea finally managed to pose some actual threat, even.
  • Around the hour mark, Martin Atkinson lost control of the game.  Refereeing descended into a farcical crapshoot of random decisions after that point.
  • Diego Costa firmly back in his role an pantomime villain.
  • Next player to be offside on a free kick needs to be fined a weeks' wages.
  • John Terry is expected return on Tuesday.  It might be a while before we see Baba Rahman again.
  • Chelsea move up to 10th, for now and remain unbeaten in the league under Hiddink.
  • Carefree.
