It's been a largely frustrating afternoon for Chelsea so far, with the boys in Blue spending almost as much time with their arms spread wide in exasperation as anything else, when the latest pass, move, or attack breaks down in annoying fashion. Diego Costa, Cesar Azpilicueta, and even Cesc Fabregas have been often guilty of making the wrong decision. More than anything, the boys need a bit more intensity to the game, to bring out the usual sharpness in attack.
Despite their recent great form, Southampton's only threat has come through the ever-annoying Shane Long, who nipped in to steal Baba's lackadaisical header and slot past Courtois with just a few minutes left in the half. An incredibly stupid goal to concede to add to our frustrations. Chelsea had largely been in control (if not really threatening), but one sloppy moment has undone all that work. The home side's defense looks organized enough that it's likely to be a long day as Chelsea look for an equalizer.
So, 45 minutes to find one. Come on, Chelsea.
