Wulfert Cornelius "Marco" van Ginkel's series of unfortunate continues with yet another loan today. After spending the first half of the season on loan at Stoke City, and doing okay-ish, Van Ginkel was shipped back to the Eredivisie in the final hours of the January transfer window.

The day started with rumors of Stoke City spending big on FC Porto's Giannelli Imbula, which rendered Van Ginkel's somewhat tenuous grip on minutes at the Potters even less solid. As those rumors intensified, Van Ginkel had to swing into action to figure out his next step. As it stands, a loan back to the Eredivisie and table-topping PSV, where he'll get to link up with former teammate Davy Propper and former Chelsea prospect Jeffrey Bruma, is not the worst outcome.
Van Ginkel will have two more years left on his Chelsea contract after this summer. While some of his initial promise has been robbed by that ACL injury he suffered just a few minutes into his Chelsea career, he is still just 23 with a long career ahead of him.
Good luck, Marco!
