Date, time set for Chelsea's non-televised FA Cup third round match against either Notts County or Peterborough United

Earlier this week, Chelsea were got a pretty advantageous draw for the FA Cup third round, getting picked to play against either League Two Notts County or League One Peterborough United, home at Stamford Bridge nonetheless!  The two lower division sides are set for a replay in two (2!) weeks to determine who actually gets to play against the Blues.

While that replay on December 20 will be televised, the actual third round match will not be.  Perhaps that's not surprising, given that it will be a lower division side coming to Stamford Bridge, and if we ignore the massive upset by Bradford City two years ago, upsets in these sorts of matches never happen, so they don't really make for good television.

The FA did confirm that the match will take place on Sunday, January 8th, kicking off at that oh-so-traditional 3pm kick-off time just not on the oh-so-traditional kick-off day.  Chelsea will be coming off a Wednesday night match against Spurs, so the extra day is probably welcome, even if we're likely to rotate heavily.

Unlike the League Cup (from the third round on), the FA Cup does not usually have secondary rights sales, so if it's not televised in the UK, it's generally not televised (live anyway) anywhere else.  Better start warming up the transistors in them radios!

For the record, the televised matches will be:

Friday 6 January 2017
West Ham United vs. Manchester City (7.55pm) -€” BBC One

Saturday 7 January 2017
Manchester United vs. Reading (12.30pm) -€” BT Sport 2
Preston North End vs. Arsenal (5.30pm) -€” BT Sport 2

Sunday 8 January 2017
Liverpool vs. Plymouth Argyle OR Newport County (1.30pm) -€” BT Sport 2
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Aston Villa (4pm) -€” BBC One

Monday 9 January 2017
Cambridge United vs. Leeds United (7.45pm) -€” BT Sport 2
