Chelsea 5-0 Everton, Premier League: Post-match reaction

Clive Rose/Getty Images

Hardly skipping a beat despite a 3-0 half-time lead, Chelsea poured further misery onto the visitors, quickly turning dominance into a rout before sitting back a bit during the final 20-25 minutes.  Certainly could've added a few more goals, but "just" five will have to do!

With Manchester City surprisingly dropping points earlier today, Chelsea are temporarily top of the league.  Liverpool and Arsenal play tomorrow.

  • Five wins in a row.  Five clean sheets in a row.  Sixteen goals during that run. Chelsea are now the top scorers in the Premier League with 26, and have the second-best defense with just 9 conceded.
  • Final shot count:  20-1.
  • Diego Costa scores his 9th, once again moving to the top of the goalscoring charts, one ahead of Aguero.
  • Eden Hazard now has 7 goals on the season, 5 in his last 4.  Even Marcos Alonso joined in on the fun!
  • Chelsea top and guaranteed at least third by the end of the weekend.
  • Carefree!
  • (Alas, now it's international break time...)
