108 years. History has been made.
Yawn. Another feel-good sports redemption story. Curse lifted. Etc, etc, etc.
And so, with universal constants crumbling all-around us, the apocalypse is night. Take care, friends. Next stop, who knows.
Now, I should make it clear, I'm a very casual baseball fan — I was a hardcore Dave Niehaus fan, who used to announce Mariners games, but my baseball experience was 90% listening to Dave, 5% caring about Edgar Martinez, 3% caring about Junior, and 1% caring about the team/sport/league/etc — but I was really hoping the Cubbies would lose. The story is SO MUCH more interesting that way. Especially once Game 7 went into a rain delay and extra innings. (Remember, the Cubs were down 3 games to 1 at one point in the World Series.)
Oh well.
Congrats, Cubbies fans. Now, you're just the same as all the others fans.
A BIT SPURSY:
Spurs have now gone 450 minutes without scoring a goal in open play.
