The flavor of the month, as far as Chelsea Academy prospects are concerned is Nathaniel Chalobah. After six years out in the wilderness of the Loan Army, the 21-year-old midfielder finally made his Chelsea debut last month. He's featured in all three games since and is likely to be an option off the bench for today's massive Chelsea vs. Manchester United clash as well.
Given Chalobah's impressive performances, it's perhaps unsurprising that rumors of a contract extension started appearing in the media this weekend. Granted, they are just from the Mirror, which should temper the excitement a little bit — though I want to say that the Mirror do have a decent track record in this regard, even if they tend to jump the gun by a good margin usually.

Chalobah's current deal, a five-year contract signed in 2013, runs through the end of next season, so it's indeed getting close to the contract extension time. Should he continue to impress and feature under Conte, this should be a no-brainer for either side.
