The best 35 minutes of football from Chelsea has staked the Blues to a 2-0 half-time lead over defending champions Leicester City. The visitors put together a coherent 5-minute spell towards the end of the half and even threatened Courtois's goal with a couple half-decent chances, but it's been largely smooth sailing for the home side.
An early goal from Diego Costa got Chelsea rolling. Hazard took the corner, Matic flicked it on at the near post, Costa finished at the far with the left foot after completely losing Wes Morgan.
Chelsea's pressure did not relent after taking the lead and the Blues have kept the ball for large stretches of the game. Domination in midfield, domination in wide areas, domination in the middle with Costa showing to the ball and playing in others. Chelsea have had the vast majority of possesion (70-30), majority of shots (9-2), and all the goals.
Hazard got Chelsea's second after a bit of fortune helped Pedro play him in 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper. He coolly rounded Schmeichel and slotted home. Before then, David Luiz hit the post from a free kick.
Both goals were celebrated with flying Ws, for the grieving Willian.
Incisive in attack, dominant in midfield, and solid in defense. What more can you ask for? How about another 45 minutes of the same? Let's go!
