Guus Hiddink will be addressing the media in a few hours, at which point we might learn a bit more information about expected player availability for Sunday's FA Cup third round match against League One Scunthorpe United. Until then, my assumption is that we will be without Eden Hazard (expected out at least another week) and Radamel Falcao (expected out until the end of the month). Earlier, we had heard that Gary Cahill is expected to be back, though there's been no word on Loïc Rémy and whatever problem he still might be experiencing. He's included in the list below, but pick at your own peril.
Also included is young Patrick Bamford, back at Cobham after his unhappy few months at Crystal Palace. Perhaps Hiddink will give us a hint in his press conference regarding the striker's next move, but if that is to stay with Chelsea for the rest of the season rather than head out on loan again, one would have to assume that he'd feature in some capacity in this match.
While many would probably prefer to give other youth a chance here as well, it should be noted that all the others who may be next in line for a first-team debut — think Charly Musonda, Charlie Colkett, Tammy Abraham, Jake Clarke-Salter — played the full 90 in Wednesday's U21 League Cup match. Chances are, they will not be starting on Sunday for the first-team, especially with an U21 Premier League match scheduled for Monday night away to Spurs.
For the first-team, mid-week action will follow on Wednesday (v. West Brom), and then another match on Saturday (v. Everton). So three in the space of seven days, though all three at Stamford Bridge.
With all that in mind, choose wisely!
