Chelsea, Manchester United once again set sights on Premier League top goalscorer - report

One of the most surprising players in the Premier League this season, Leicester City's Jamie Vardy might be looking to cash his way out of King Power Stadium to one of the traditional big English clubs in the current transfer window. That's at least according to Sky Sports, who claim that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all considering making a move for the striker this month, despite manager Claudio Ranieri's recent hands-off warning.

The 29-year-old striker is currently on a £40,000-per-week contract with Leicester, which runs out in two years and a half, and the club have yet to offer Vardy a new deal. With Chelsea and Manchester United having problems in their striking department as well as with the continuing fitness issues of Manchester City's Sergio Agüero fitness issues, the three big clubs might see the 15-goal striker as the ideal winter signing.

Still, it's hard to ignore the fact that Vardy has never had a season like this in the top flight and is nearing the dreaded 30s. He'd certainly ask for big wages since it would be his last chance to bank on his footballing career, but he'd most likely not justify what any of these clubs would pay for to have him in their squads.

However, with reports claiming that Chelsea's football director Michael Emenalo recommended Vardy to the club - as well as rumours of an impending Loïc Rémy transfer and Costa's unreliability this season - we could see the Blues pull the trigger. Even if it makes little to no sense.
