Terry and Mikel react to Chelsea's victory against Crystal Palace

Chelsea recorded a much-needed 3-0 victory against Crystal Palace to start the new year, with a great performance all across the pitch. To Chelsea captain John Terry, it resembled the team's performances from their Premier League title last season.

"It was the Chelsea of last year. The football was first class, we kept the ball and they were tough conditions; windy, rainy and with a lot of zip on the surface."

"We have to keep winning games. We've had a couple of draws of late and we have to pick up more points but we're delighted with the win, it feels good and that's what we want."

"Guus has been great since he came in. It's unfortunate that [Mourinho's sacking] happened and we feel as though we let everyone down. Much like he did last time, he's picked everyone up. We are where we are and we need to start climbing the table."

Another player who got involved in the win at Selhurst Park yesterday was John Obi Mikel, whose shift in the midfield let his pivot partner Cesc Fàbregas and the attacking front-four have freedom to produce chances and runs that have been sorely missed this season. Mikel says the team needs to keep working in their ways to maintain these good performances along with good results in the league.

"There are a lot of games to be played and if we can keep putting in these kind of performances the sky is our limit. We need to keep believing but we don't want to get carried away, we played well but we need to keep working hard in training."

"Let's hope it's a new year and a new Chelsea. We've been disappointed with our results but we've shown what type of team we are."

Mikel also thanked the club supporters who were present at Crystal Palace's ground, who sang praises not only for him but also for his colleagues during the whole game.

"They've been supporting us when it hasn't been great and stuck by us, we can't ask for more from them. I want to say a big 'thank you' for the support they've given us and hopefully we can keep producing this type of performance."
