Sporting CP make eleventh hour move to gazump Chelsea's Pato deal — report

The one-time golden duck of Brazilian football, Alexandre Pato looks all but set to move back to Europe this January and try his luck one more time (one last time?) at footballing glory at the top levels of the game.  If reports are to be believed, all that's separating him from doing so in a Chelsea shirt is a signature or two on the dotted line.  Despite many reservations, that deal looks set to go ahead.

Unless somebody decides to gazump it at this late juncture.  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

Please?

Oh you beauties!  If you do this, I promise I shall never refer to all y'all as Sporting Lisbon!

League leaders Sporting CP are apparently looking to bolster their attacking prospects as they try to win a first title since 2002.  They've only conceded 11 times in 18 matches, but their attack has relied largely on the goals of Islam Slimani and could use another backup.

DO IT.
