Signed in the summer to be just the backup goalkeeper, Asmir Begovic has been pressed into first-team duty not only only the pitch, but off of it as well. Following the crushing loss against Everton, and ahead of our first match in the Champions League, he was chosen to face the hungry media alongside the manager. Mourinho has come under fire quite a bit this season, also both on and off the pitch, but as Begovic tells it, he and the rest of the squad remain united behind The Special Happy Grumpy One.
"From the outside looking in I always thought he was the best manager in the world and you can now see working with him each and every day what makes him the best manager in the world.
"The manager has led from the front from the first day. I have worked with him for the last couple of months and he has motivated us as much as ever.
"I have certainly enjoyed it. The lads enjoy it every day. We are very much together. We're behind him. It's difficult sometimes in football when things aren't going your way but we remember what this team is and what this team is capable of."
Begovic also commented on his opportunity to play in his first ever Champions League match, and further elaborated on why a win against Maccabi Tel-Aviv would do wonders for the squad.
"We're all looking forward to it. The Champions League is very special. It's the highest level of club football. You work a long time to get yourself to this level and test yourself against the best. I'm really excited and honoured.
"A good performance and a good result can really steer us in the right direction and kick our season on. Ultimately we are not satisfied with the situation. We are all winners so when you lose it's disappointing.
"We've had a couple of days to dust ourselves down, regroup and focus on the next game. We are all motivated to turn things around and push Chelsea and this team where it belongs, which is with the best teams in the world and at the top of the table. We can't forget what the group have achieved in the last year. We have some of the best players in the world.
"There's always going to be a little hit on confidence when things aren't quite going your way but if you're experienced and you've seen the game you understand that it's part of football and sports in general that there will be dips in form. It's going to make us stronger going forward."

Begovic certainly has fit in straight away at Chelsea. Whenever he speaks, it's almost as if he were part of Chelsea's title-winning squad last season, too. Even though he only joined the club two months ago, he's already well in-tune with the club's spirit and mentality.
Begovic also has the distinct honor of being one of the few highlights in the team so far this season, despite his shaky first-ever appearance in pre-season. Entrenched as the number one goalkeeper given Thibaut Courtois' injury, hopefully he will continue his good performances as we look to recover the season and begin this season's European adventure.
