Everton vs. Chelsea, Player Ratings: Slim pickings

Another bloodbath in the player ratings.

Second career Chelsea start for Begović.  Second career Chelsea start conceding three goals.  Second career Chelsea start where he was the best player on the pitch.

In fact, we haven't had a single competitive match this season, including the Community Shield, where our goalkeeper wasn't one of the three highest rated Chelsea players.  It really isn't a happy situation, isn't it?  Hardly surprising that we only have one win from those six.

2. NEMANJA MATIĆ - MC 6.4

Matić's rating, his highest of the season, gets a nice boost thanks to his ridiculously awesome goal.  He was still nowhere near last season's Matić overall, but then again, that's just another variation on this season's theme.

The goal was one of our only two shots on target (the other coming from Falcao), from 15 total shots.  Compare with Everton getting 9 on target from 14.  Can't score if we can't even hit the target!  And that's without even delving into any sort of shot-quality analysis.

3. CÉSAR AZPILICUETA - DL 5.5

It's actually Cesar Azpilicueta's worst rating of the season, but since everybody else is so much worse, he ends up on the podium anyway.  Hurray!

While Branislav Ivanovic continues to set new individual lows, the team's rating of 4.56 is also one of the worst ever in the history of WAGNH player ratings and Mourinho's worst since the 5-3 against Spurs. Interim still holds the record with a 3.83 against Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League, and Mourinho's lowest is the 1-0 away loss to Crystal Palace a couple seasons ago (4.51), but this one slots in at third, tied with the 0-1 home loss to QPR.

Making history every day!
