With the transfer window closing today, Chelsea are making a last ditch effort to bolster their center back depth. Add Reading center back Michael Hector to the list of defenders that the club is targeting do just that. According to Sky Sports, a deal is close to being completed.
The deal is reportedly for £4 million between the two clubs.

Earlier today Chelsea completed the signing of Papy Djilobodji from FC Nantes to add to their center back depth making this deal a head-scratcher if it's made.
If the signing is completed that would be two separate center back signings with John Terry, Gary Cahill, and Kurt Zouma already taking a lot of the minutes.
One possible benefit to signing Hector would be him counting as a homegrown signing making him a possible Champions League roster addition.
Clubs are required to add at least eight homegrown players to their 25-man UEFA Champions League roster and Hector would qualify as one.
Until the deal is finalized it's probably smart to take it with a grain of salt with a center back already signing.
