Young Chelsea defender extends loan stay at Peterborough

Alex Davey was a standout defender in the Chelsea Academy a few years ago, but so far that has only translated to a couple loan moves in the lower English leagues.

He spent most of last season on loan at League One Scunthorpe United, and while he was far from an everyday starter, he did well enough when called upon.  He also impressed enough that fellow League One side Peterborough United snapped him up on short-term loan earlier this summer.  That deal was set to expire next week, but has now been extended until January.

Davey has started every one of Peterborough's games so far, so this is great news for him.  The 20-year-old tall center back's Chelsea contract is set to expire at the end of this season.  There is no word about any contract extension, which seems to be our thing to do with quite a few loanees.

Keep on keeping on, Alex!  Up The Posh!
